Buon Natale,

Merry Christmas…yeah yeah I know it’s almost February. But here’s a quick rundown of Christmas in Sicily. We put our tree up around the 14th of December, Luke got to put the star on top this year. Surprisingly, when we unpacked the glass ball ornaments, we only lost 2. Not too bad, seeing how Erin is already looking to buy Sicilian balls to hang. Our great friends from Va, Nate and Shawnie, came down from Naples on the 20th for the weekend. We had a great time, took them to Caltagerone to see the Presepe’s which are the Italian Manger scenes. But not just the normal manger scene, these people go all out. This one, the main one in Caltagerone was easily the size of a 2car garage, thats two car garage in America, it was huge, they had detailed every bit of everyday life, from people making bread, to fishing. Oh yeah, the scale was where a person was about 5-6 inces tall. We ate at one of the most expensive places in Caltagerone, by accident of course. It was good, but we left hungry. The day before we took them to the Catania market, bore….I really despise going to the catania maket, at least the fleamarket side, it’s all the same junk, just different people selling it. That evening we went to an agriturismo in Palagonia. It was a very nice dinner and we were able to catch up on old times. They left Sunday evening, and Cutter cried of course. We can’t wait till we can see them again.

We opened presents Christmas morning, Cutter, Luke, and Piper had a big old time and made such a mess of the paper. Piper got baby dolls, Cutter and Luke got legos and movies. On the 26th we went up Mineo to see the presepes they had. It was 12 or so of them, we went from house to house looking at them, they were amazing. New Years was spent at home, quite evening, but the sicilians do love their fireworks, and we enjoyed the thump thump of the Motta fireworks till about 230am.

That was about it to close our 2007. We are sitll loving it here, and can’t wait to see what God has in store for us this year.
