We went to a local circus on the 18th. It was a small one tent circus in downtown Catania. The tent may have held 300 people if it ws full. Luckily the night we went, weeknight, was very low attendance. Maybe 100 people were there. We sat on the first row of the bleachers which was about 9 feet from the ring. The headliners were a troop from Asia called Dragon. They did acrobatic stunts and all kinds of other neat things, like swinging from bungie cords and vaulting from the floor. You could tell it was a very small “family” circus and we felt almost like the whole show was just for us.
When the Chinese dogs came out, Piper tensed up real tight, but didn’t cry. The boys laughed, mainly at the clown and loved the “Freedom” they had to roam in and out of the tent and walk in the aisles. Like I said it was a small tent, and we could see everywhere in it. The ring was only about 30 feet in diameter, but they used it well. Full size horses came running out, even a camel. It was really fun and Erin is hooked on the Italian Circus’. Ringling Brothers experience is nothing compared to this. I guess it’s really one of those, You had to be theres.
Anyway, if anyone ever visits while a circus is in town, it’s going on the list of things to do.
